Using calculators and formulas in your fitness regime is important for many reasons.
First, calculators can define your starting place for what is being measured (ie fat, strength, flexibility). By knowing where you are today, you can measure your gains over time.
Second, calculators can make general assumptions about your overall health as measured against the general population. Where you sit in the big scheme of things can be an eye opener.
Third, calculators are fun!
But remember, calculators are a guide only. Variances in body types, genetics and personal preferences are the spice of life, so don't rely solely on these industry tools to be the last word in your overall health picture.
