Strength, resilience, and grace…
The human spirit never ceases to amaze me….
A few months ago I published my first book (One Rep at a Time) which I assumed would be read by women interested in health and fitness, given that there’s my 8-week BLISS Body Makeover program included.
Boy was I wrong.
Seems women (and men) are being drawn to the story rather than the program, the story of the immense physical and emotional pain I suffered when my son was diagnosed with DMD, my swirling around in the depths of depression and ill health for many years, and my eventual emergence from the darkness with new tools that allowed me to live with incredible health and vitality once again, tools that I teach to women everywhere, and that still guide my life today.
Not a week goes by when I don’t get an email from someone who has read my book and who found strength in those pages as they journey through their own traumas…a woman whose husband committed suicide, a mother whose son was diagnosed with a terrible disease, another whose friend lost her husband to cancer, and still another whose daughter is caught in a terrible cycle of abuse.
And so the stories go…stories of strength, resilience and grace when all else is going black. And I answer every email, because it is both my responsiblity and my privilege to somehow, in some small way, help someone in need, and to lay witness to the strength of the human spirit.
Trust in your own strength. It’s more powerful than you could ever dream possible. I know. I lived through it. And you will too.
Blessings,
karen
